PupleSpace's Global Disability Employee Resource Group Summit
 
PurpleSpace - supported by MSD, Motability Operations and the Financial Times - is convening the world’s first Global Disability Employee Resource Group (ERG) Summit on 15 October 2024 in London. A series of smaller pre-summit hub events in cities around the world will happen, which can be joined in person or virtually. PurpleSpace would like to invite your company to take part in the Regional Hub events in September 2024. Zero Project India Conference 2024
 
The annual Zero Project India Conference, hosted by Youth4Jobs, will be held in New Delhi on 19-20 September. Members of the global Zero Project Network, Zero Project Awardees, local/regional stakeholders and decision makers from India and South Asia will come together to discuss topics like Artificial Intelligence, how to make universities inclusive and accessible, and women entrepreneurs with disabilities. Stefan Tromel, Senior Disability Specialist at the International Labour Organization (ILO) will speak during the "Power of Employer and Employee Networks" panel on 19 September.

Global Disability Summit: a unique opportunity for business to engage
 
The Global Disability Summit (GDS) is a unique worldwide mechanism that improves the lives of persons with disabilities, especially from the Global South. Created in 2017, GDS convenes global, regional, and national stakeholders, including businesses, that share the goal of disability-inclusive development. The ILO Global Business and Disability Network webinar "Global Disability Summit: a unique opportunity for business to engage", supported by GIZ, on 25 September, 2pm-3pm CEST, will provide further information about the GDS, why businesses should engage and how they can do it.

3rd African BHR Forum: Business leadership on disability rights as human rights
 
The 3rd African Business and Human Rights (BHR) Forum will be held on 8-10 October 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The ILO Global Business and Disability Network and UNICEF will co-host a hybrid session that highlights human rights generally, and the labour rights specifically, of persons with disabilities as a marginalised group, which can be and are already protected and promoted by leading companies in the African business community. "Business leadership on disability rights as human rights" will take place on 8 October, 2pm-3pm EAT. Register now for online participation.
 
Inclusion and ESG reporting made easy
 
Measuring inclusion and ESG reporting offer many economic benefits and an opportunity for positive change within companies. The whitepaper by the myAbility Business Forum - with the support of the Network Council and experts from the PwC Sustainability Platform - provides a comprehensive overview of relevant metrics in the context of the inclusion of people with disabilities in companies. The whitepaper addresses practical tips for HR, Diversity & Inclusion Managers, and ESG Officers; and relevant metrics & KPIs for successful ESG reporting.
 
Harkin International Disability Employment Summit
 
The Harkin Summit will be held in Washington D.C. at the JW Marriott Hotel on 18-19 December 2024. This event will bring together private employers, government leaders, and disability advocates from all over the world to increase the employment rates of people with disabilities and discuss the solutions to barriers to employment for persons with disabilities.

Launch of the Iraqi Business and Disability Network
 
The Iraqi National Business and Disability Network (IBDN) was established by the Iraqi Federation for Industries (IFI), in partnership with the ILO's project to promote green businesses, with support from Italy and various governmental and private entities.

The Right to Work: The employment situation of persons with disabilities in Europe
 
The seventh edition of the European Disability Forum (EDF)’s Human Rights Report focuses on the right to work of persons with disabilities. This report dissects the latest data on the employment of persons with disabilities in the EU, describes the barriers to employment persons with disabilities may face when seeking employment and cover existing policies that promote the employment of persons with disabilities.

European Accessibility Act: One year to go. Are you ready?
